Fox named Executive Director

David Fox, who has served as the head basketball coach at Jefferson City High School for the past 17 seasons, has been named as the Executive Director of the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association.

Fox will succeed outgoing director Gary Filbert who stepped down in October.  Filbert was the driving force behind the association since it's inception in the 1980's and the only executive director since that time.

Fox has served as President of the MBCA in a one year term and worked tirelessly behind the scenes as a past-President for over a decade.   He has most recently served as the Clinic Coordinator for the past four years.

"Having the opportunity to serve and represent Missouri's basketball coaches is an honor", stated Fox.  "The MBCA has grown in numbers and activities under the leadership of a Missouri Basketball legend, Gary Filbert.  I look forward to the challenge of continuing that tradition and more importantly, promoting basketball in the state of Missouri."

Under his leadership the MBCA October coaching clinic has grown from a first-year event to one of the top clinics in the nation annually boasts attendance of more than 1,200 coaches and a lineup of some of the top speakers in the country including Bill Self, Bob Hurley, Mike Anderson, Bruce Weber, Jeff Van Gundy, and many others.

Fox has spent the last 25 seasons coaching at Jefferson City High School, the past 17 as the head coach and 8 as an assistant to Jim Byland.  During his tenure the Jays advanced to the Show-Me Showdown in Columbia six times, earning the state championship in 1993.  Fox served as head coach at Versailles his first three seasons in education.

A graduate of Central Methodist College where he played for head coach Ken Ash, Fox is also a graduate of Rock Bridge (Columbia) High School and was inducted into the schools Hall of Fame in 2006.

Fox is excited to start at his duties and about the newest MBCA event; MBCA All-Star Weekend.
