Inaugural MBCA Spring Awards Weekend planned

The Missouri Basketball Coaches Association (MBCA) is excited to announce its first annual Spring Awards Weekend, April 30, and May 1st to be held on the Campus of Drury University and the new O’Reilly Events Center.

Saturday afternoon, April 30th, the MBCA will induct its 2011 class into the MBCA Hall of Fame.  The ceremony will be held at 12:00 at the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame.  The 2011 class will be introduced Saturday evening between the boy’s and girl’s championship games.  The inductees will be:  Ed Crenshaw – St. Dominic / University City, Allen Davis – DeSoto, David Fox – Jefferson City, Mike Kwitzky – Maryville, Doug Light – Borgia / Jefferson City / Helias, Lynn Long – Stoutland, Jerry Meuschke – Hallsville / Carl Harrison, GA, Bill Martin – North County Bonne Terre, Dave Niemeyer – Princeton, Stephanie Phillips – Kickapoo, John Sheehy – John Brown University, Bill Sodemann – Parkway West, Ray Steinhoff – New Haven  

The afternoon of May 1st will bring the MBCA’s Academic All State Banquet to the O’Reilly Events Center.  This annual banquet honors Missouri’s top scholar basketball players as well as the state coaches of the year and Mr. and Miss Show-Me Basketball.  Last season 90 scholar athletes were honored at the banquet and the first ever Gary Filbert Lifetime Achievement Award was awarded to Coach Gary Filbert for his lifetime of dedication to the sport of basketball in Missouri.

The MBCA is looking forward to an exciting weekend of basketball and would like to thank Drury University for hosting these events.
