St. Louis-- Larry Hughes, Tyler Hansbrough, David Lee, and soon Bradley Beal have each earned Mr. Show-Me Basketball honors and have gone on to a professional basketball careers in the N.B.A.

Cardinal Ritter senior Cameron Biedscheid (pronounced beed-shide) a versatile 6-foot-7 inch silky smooth guard is now ready to become the next Missouri phenom to make his mark.  Sunday at Drury University, the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association will honor Biedscheid as the latest to win the states high basketball award.

“It’s a great honor to win this award”, commented Biedscheid. “It’s an honor, with all the names that have won it before.  I am really grateful to earn this.”

“In the future I just want to do some of the great things that they have done as I move forward”, added Biedscheid. Biedscheid made plans very early, he announced prior to his junior season he would attend Notre Dame University, a plan he shared with his mother Kim as a young boy.

With hard work on the court and in the classroom Biedscheid made that dream a reality.  On the court this season Biedscheid, a 2,000 point career scorer, averaged 31.7 points, 9.6 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 2.2 steals per game.

Biedscheid earned his third all-state selection and was recently named the Gatorade Player of the Year in Missouri.  A key performer as a sophomore on the Lions Class 3 state championship team, this season he scored 38 points to help his team earn their third consecutive district championship.

Off the court Biedscheid has maintained a 3.21 GPA in the classroom. He also gives back in his church community, and has volunteered at the St. Louis Science Center and with food and clothing drives in St. Louis.

Throughout his career Biedscheid has built a special bond with his coach, MBCA Hall of Fame member Marvin Neals.

“Coach Neals has done so many great things for me from day one since my freshman year at Cardinal Ritter”, shared Biedscheid.  “He taught us so many life lessons along with basketball lessons.  I really enjoyed the entire experience at Cardinal Ritter.”

"Cameron Biedscheid is one of the most gifted athletes I have ever coached," commented Neals. "He is extremely athletic and has the ability to play all positions on the floor. He elevated his game in each season he was here as an offensive and defensive player"

In the fall, Biedscheid will build new relationships as he attends Notre Dame and competes nationally in the Big East Conference.

“I was really impressed with the coaches, players, as well as the campus at Notre Dame”, exclaimed Biedsheid.  “They have a great academic background along with a great basketball tradition competing in the Big East Conference.”

Biedsheid has been recognized not only outstanding basketball excellence, but also his high standards of academic achievement and exemplary character.  Whether his future leads him to the N.B.A. or not, you can be sure this Mr. Show-Me Basketball will continue to set the bar high in all avenues of life.
