Beal named Mr. Show-Me Basketball

Senior shooting guard Bradley Beal joined current Golden State Warrior David Lee as members of Chaminade who have been named Mr. Show-Me Basketball by the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association.

Beal earned his most recent honor from the MBCA at the 2011 Academic All-State banquet held at Drury University, in Springfield. Beal, a 6-foot-4 inch, 205-pound talent averaged 32.4 points, 5.7 rebounds, 2.8. assists, and nearly 3 steals per game for the Red Devils which finished in the quarterfinal round of the Class 5 playoffs with a 27-1 record.

A three-time all-state award winner Beal led the Red Devils to the state championship in his sophomore season.  The St. Louis Metro player of the year, Beal finished his prep career with 2,634 points.

"Bradley Beal has been the ultimate leader on the floor, in the classroom and in the community," said Chaminade Head Coach  Kelvin Lee. "He is a pleasure to coach and he is the first person to show up for practice and the last one to leave. He is the total package."

Nationally known, Beal is currently ranked as the No. 7 recruit by Rivals.com. He recently scored 17 points for the winning team in the McDonald's All-American Game and was later featured in the Jordan Brand Classic.

In the past two summers, Beal has represented his country playing on the USA Under16 team in Argentina prior to his junior season, then earned the MVP award at the 2010 FIBA U17 World Championship.  Beal led his squad to an 8-0 mark, earning the Gold Medal, as he averaged 18.3 points per game.

In April, Beal competed once again for a United States squad in the 4th annual Nike Hoops Summit in Portland, Oregon in a 2-80 victory over the world squad.

Solid on and off the court, Beal is a two-time award winner of the Missouri Gatorade Player of the Year and is a leader in the community. Beal has maintained a 91.7 average in the classroom. He has volunteered on behalf of the St. Patrick Center, Missouri's largest  homeless services provider, and the Wellness Center of St. Louis in addition to visiting the Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital as a goodwill ambassador to patients. Beal has also donated his time as a youth basketball camp and clinic instructor in addition to participating in Focus St. Louis, a diversity and multicultural initiative.

The amount of conference, metro, and state awards Beal has received is limitless, but recently his breath was taken away at a national award he received at Chaminade High School.

Former NBA all-star Alonzo Mourning visited the St. Louis area campus to make the official announcement as Beal was named the Gatorade National Player of the Year in a ceremony at his school.

Beal will attend the University of Florida, the same route followed by Lee, where he will play for head coach Billy Donavan in the Southeastern Conference.
