David "Chubbs" Stillman earns Curtis Kerr Award

Kirkwood senior David "Chubbs" Stillman was named the first recipient of the Curtis Kerr award given annually to an outstanding student assistant in the state of Missouri.

Stillman has served as a manager for the Kirkwood basketball program for the past four years, three at the varsity level with the Pioneers.  

During that time Chubbs attended nearly 100% of games, practices, and off-season development.  Serving water, towels on game nights, he also served many valuable roles passing in practice.

"Chubbs has been a valuable part of our program for the past four seasons", commented Kirkwood head coach Bill Gunn. His enthusiasm for our team and for life is contagious.  He had a positive impact on our program in so many ways."

Earlier this season the role in the Kirkwood program for Chubbs was expanded when he suited up for the Pioneers for a home game with Fox High School.   Chubbs connected on a pair of late three-point baskets and was the later the subject of a viral story that earned time on the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Yahoo, CNN Prime News, and the Washington Post. 

Chubbs and his family as well as Coach Gunn were invited to New York City to do a segment on the Today Show.
